kalari & studio

Tyn-y-parc kalari/studio is located near the protected coastal area of Ceredigion, West Wales. We are located two miles from the Irish Sea, with distant sea views from some parts of the property. The kalari-studio includes our private home; the kalari/studio converted in 2000 from a former milking parlor measuring approximately 16' x 34' with a high, vaulted ceiling, shower room, conservatory; three garden areas including a pond/waterfall; sauna and hot tub (restricted use).   The property is just outside the village of Llanarth off the A487 coastal highway. Nearby are the picturesque seaside villages of New Quay and Aberaeron.   The property is situated at the end of a long private lane and is surrounded on all sides by pastureland where cows graze during the summer.

Tyn-y-parc CVN KALARI-STUDIO: reconstructed in 2000, the kalari has under-floor heating, and is the first proper earth-floor kalari constructed outside of Kerala. It is similar in size and shape-rectangular with a length almost twice its width - to kalari in Kerala. In the southwest corner is the traditional puttara - platform of 5 steps where the guardian deity of a traditional kalari is located.
